Hard-reset your N82

Has something weird happened to your device, or is it behaving strangely – unlike when you first got it? Then re-installing the OS might be the last option. But what about your messages, contacts and all the goodies you have installed on it?

Yes, your messages contacts and everything on your phone memory will be lost. And I mean it – erased. You might want to back up to your memory card though, as that will remain intact. Using the backup to memory card utility is advised, or better still backup your stuff to your PC using PC Suite.

When you’re done, you have to do the following.

  1. Type *#7370# from the standby screen while your phone is on.
  2. It will ask for the lock code which is 12345 unless you have previously changed it.
  3. Wait for the process to complete
  4. Re-install all of your applications and themes.

This should correct any problems you may previously have. Except some hardware has gone haywire :) .

    However, my son’s N82 crashed yesterday with a white display. We have tried all the obvious options:
    - remove and reinsert battery
    - remove SIM
    - remove memory card
    - charge
    - leave the white display on for 15 minuttes
    It just cannot boot, so we can’t type in anything.

    Do you know of any way to hard-hard-reset the phone?

    Birkerod, i had the sam eproblem then went to nokia website and done a software updat and it worked for me. The firmware needs to be updated.

    I did a firmware update on N82 with the NSS to debrand the phone.

    After that I tried to make the content copy of my previous backup (luckly i had one) and the phone for a minute behaved in a wird manner.

    A little while later it reset and came up “please contact your reseller”

    After the hard reset

    [*] + [3] + [Green Button]

    it came us with the real unbranded appearance and then It started working OK again.

    ok this is weird i bought an n82 2 weeks ago i was going to make a call and the screen went black with coloured verticle lines on the right part of the screen. i can recieve calls messages and everything but i cant see anything. is it possible the screen is fried i just bought it what the hell. anyone experience that or now a solution???? thank you

    If you formatted the Nokia n82 memory card and still you find that the memory card with password, and you want to remove the password, then hard reset the device and then formate the memory card:
    1) switch the phone off
    2) Hold down [*] + [3] + [Green Button] button while switching the phone on
    3) choese your settings country, date and time.
    4) go to Tools / Utilities / Memory / option / Format memory card

    this time the card will be formatted and the password will be removed.

    I have a weird problem. Dont know this is the right place to post it. My display just dosent work on N82. However all the other operations just does work fine. I get incoming calls but wudnt know who is calling ,just the ring will come in. i can make calls and do everything else eventhough i wont be knowing what’s happening on the screen. The inside display just shows some kind of scratch. I dont know how it got it. I was using it to connect internet with my laptop and i then released it and kept it near me and everything was fine.
